Reselling can be a lucrative way to make extra money, declutter your closet, contribute to a more sustainable fashion industry, and even replace your full-time income. Reselling sites include Poshmark, eBay, Mercari, Depop, and so many more as the list is forever growing with new sites constantly being created. If you’re interested in starting to resell on any of these platforms but don’t know where to start, then this guide is for you.
Reselling Clothes Online
Declutter your closet! The first step when in it comes to reselling is to list items you already own. This can be done by simply decluttering your closet. Go through your clothes, shoes, and accessories that you no longer wear, need, or would rather sell and make some money. Once you put a dollar value to your items, it makes them a little easier to get rid of.
After listing your items for sale, start researching what sells well on each platform that you intend to list on. Each platform has their pros and cons, so take them into consideration when determining where to list your items. Look up some of the items you plan to sell and check out the “comps.” These are listings that have already sold. This gives you an idea of what is selling and how much your items can sell for.
Next, it’s time to take photos and write out your descriptions. Photos can be as simple or staged as you’d like, just make sure you have good lighting and a clean background. In your description, be honest about the condition and note if there are any flaws. Aim to include measurements, material info, and keywords to make your listing searchable.
Be sure to list new items, share your listings, relist, send offers, and crosslist as often as you can!
Once you make a sale, it’s important to it quickly. Not only will the customer be thankful, but you’ll likely get a good review and the platforms love a quick shipper and engaged seller!
Follow these easy steps to getting started and then be patient, consistent, and tweak your stragety as you go.
